According to Ratan Si&#7749gh Bha&#7749g&#363, <i>Pr&#257ch&#299n Panth Prak&#257sh</i>, Waz&#299r <u>Kh</u>&#257n, on learning of Band&#257 Si&#7749gh's advance from the South towards the Punjab under the orders of Gur&#363 Gobind Si&#7749gh, called &#256l&#299 Si&#7749gh to his presence and taunted him with the remark that another Gur&#363 of theirs had appeared and that he should join him and bring him to Sirhind to be despatched after the previous Gur&#363's sons. &#256l&#299 Si&#7749gh took his comment as an insult. Waz&#299r <u>Kh</u>&#257n put him into prison from where he escaped and joined Band&#257 Si&#7749gh's ranks. &#256l&#299 Si&#7749gh took part in battles fought at Sam&#257&#7751&#257 and Sa&#7693haur&#257. In the battle of Sirhind fought on 12 May 1710 at the nearby village of Chappar Ch&#299&#7771&#299, he was one of the commanders of the M&#257lv&#257 Sikhs.
